We are very proud to announce that Sonali Das from Shakopee, MN is the WINNER of our Valentine's Day blog winner. We will send you your gift shortly. Here is what Sonali-di wrote....
" I never had any ‘valentine ‘ prior to getting married. Even after getting married this day came and went without anything eventful. I always felt this day was for all the love birds out there, those who had to keep the fire burning before tying the ultimate nuptial thread. My hubby too also seemed completely at ease with this understanding.
But one year things changed. You know how you get influenced by your environment. Seeing so much about this special day on media and the hype it’s all about. I decided we should have a talk. And talk we did..... of course making Hironmoy feel like he’d almost neglected me all my life. How deprived I was of all the warmth. So that year on Valentine ‘s Day the door bell rang around 10:00 a.m. and my heart pounded. I was home alone with my baby, it was a working day. I thought to myself ‘no one came without calling ‘. But I had to answer the bell or else it would be impolite.
When I opened the door there was a Buchman’s delivery truck in front of our house and a young man was standing in front of our door with a pleasant smile , holding a huge flower vase with beautifully decorated flowers.
I blushed and was almost embarrassed with this gift. I was totally taken by surprise.
At that moment Hironmoy called. I was speechless. For the first time I was silenced by his action. After exchanging few words we hung up.
The floral decoration was set in the middle of our family room. It looked radiant. It seemed to beautify the room even further. Then slowly the flowers started to dwindle. The leaves dried and ultimately the entire show piece was trashed away.
That’s when realization struck me....the ultimate meaning of love..the very essence of Valentine’s Day. .I realized I didn’t need flowers nor chocolates or any other pricey gift to feel that I was loved. What about the endless times Hironmoy has taken care of me, stayed up awake with me when I was studying even though he had to leave for work the next day ,cleaned my car made my breakfast so that I won’t be late to work, been my sole strength when I was sick and eternally shattered, and above all respected and accepted me for who I am. This realization is my eternal Valentine Day’s gift. This month both Hironmoy & I will be completing 25 years of married life. We’re grateful to the Almighty for bringing us together & above all blessing us with two incredible children, who have made our lives complete. Hironmoy is my eternal Valentine’s Day gift which I received every day with open arms."
